I did not see your second (and third) posts. You said it all when you said "You do not understand the times." That's precisely why the bible is useless today. Only parts of it apply to these times. The bible condones slavery by giving it rules; you are only punished for beating your slaves if he can get up from the beating after a day or two (Exodus 21:21). So do you condone slavery? Do you condone stoning children (Exodus 21:17)? Killing your own children (Judges 11: 31-40)? See next post.

If you get your morality from the bible, would you not prescribe the death penalty for these crimes: (Leviticus 20) homosexuals, adulterers, cursing your parents, marrying a woman and her daughter, and bestiality. Numbers 15 invokes the tale of a stick gatherer being stoned to death (likely a death sentence for his dependents back then). Rape of virgin girls (Numbers 31: 18) "Keep for yourselves every girls who knows not man." Offering girl for gangrape (Genesis 19:5 AND Judges 19:25-26).

I could go on (I can't find it now, but "the good book" prescribes killing the worshipper of a rival god along with his entire extended family somewher). You don't have to apologize for the bible's contradictions with modern life. Just admit to yourself that the bible in it's entirety is not a basis for morality in this age. You obviously don't believe the bible in its entirety, or you would have tried to kill some of the below mentioned people, and be put to death yourself.

(I meant to say below "killed by your own government, which has advanced to a new level that realizes that people who make certain immoral decisions such as cursing their parents or committing adultery are often still useful to the nation. Our government (I assume U.S.A.) is also taking a more and more neutral stance about homosexuals, and seeing the value that they possess in work and parenting, and the descendents of Ham are no longer "the lowest of slaves...to [their] brothers."

Now I understand; John Lennon, at the time of this song, perhaps could see the future better than most could. His song is a very beautiful song but the undertone is sad because his "dream of a more peaceful world" John knew never would come to be in this world. His song is beautiful but very sad because the subject matter will never bear fruit.......Is suppose I fall back to his song when I am tired of fighting for life and this song in a strange way,renews me and gives me the desire to carry on
