That '87 playoff loss to the Vikes is still the second worse defeat, only to the '90 loss to the Giants in the NFC championship. It just made this game that much sweeter. It seems like the Vikings never got back to this level for a long time. Good.

Great video. Just one criticism, though: NEVER call San Francisco "San Fran". We can't stand it. It's actually fine to call it "Frisco" (especially to a working-class audience like me), but "San Fran" just doesn't fly. It's OK, you didn't know.

I'm from the bay and "Frisco" is a big NO NO. We call it THE CITY. Just like my dad used to call Manhattan the city when he used to take the subway from Brooklyn to catch a show at the old MSG.

That may be the case for most San Franciscans All I'm saying is that some (a minority) of The City's natives -- especially in neighborhoods like Fillmoe and the Mission -- still find the name "Frisco" acceptable, but NOBODY likes "San Fran". I should know, I've lived in The City my whole life.

3 of the Vikings players, led by a defensive player named Browner, claimed blacks on the team were being underpaid relative to whites. Naturally, their was nuclear-level fallout from such charges, and Browner backtracked a few weeks later and claimed it was a misunderstanding. When Herschel Walker arrived later that season and was given a huge contract, it pretty much put to rest any idea that the Vikings didn't like to pay black players large amounts.
