It's not a push for diversity on all matters, only the ones that have significant backing. Also, God does not fit into the catagory because the government is supposed to reamin secular. As far as sex ed is concerned, it is improperly taught in most American schools due to a religios push for abstinance only education. The diversity there is definitely not taught. I do agree that it would fruitful to have a class discussing religeons and atheism, however I don't think that it should be mandatory.

The problem is that religions are by nature divisive. It is perfectly acceptable (and I would argue, only fair) to allow students to practice their own personal religions in school - personal prayers, etc. However, if time is set aside for this, then this divides people - what do atheists do during time allocated for religion? Religion is taught in history (as the history of religion) but should not be taught in science as it is not scientific.

I would certainly disagree with your last point.
I am not saying reason and logic are bad but if we are forever learning and not coming to the knowledge of ANY truth, then it is pointless and we just go around in circles. I love the hard questions as well as the mysterious ones, but to delve in deeply and aimlessly would only cause one to float around in one's mind.

First and foremost thanks for your kind reply. I agree with about 1/2 of what you stated and I think ultimately we are kind of on the same page. The part that threw me was was you said "only the ones that have significant backing". That's part of the problem. That is way to subjective a way to determine what should be pushed for in diversity because through most of the liberal elements, that dominate education, they only tend to think THEIR concerns are "Those with Significant Backing".

Hmm so along the lines of praying at school and relegious freedom i am sure this zealot wouldn't mind me praying to the norse god thor or getting a few friends in class to chant hari crisna for 20 mins or so....maybe a few might be pagan and have a small motif of stonehenge (in England)where thay can perfom thier rituals to the gods...and lets not forget the greek and roman god worshippers huh? and egyptian gods. then of course the 5 times a day prayers for muslims.

Reason and logic is the only way to any sort of truth. God is the pointless direction, he is not an answer to any question. To delve into the idea of god, would be the most wasteful activity, even worse then floating around in your own mind, its floating around in a pool of nothing. Try asking questions if you want to find truth. You wont find any truth in god if your really seeking truth, and not what you want to hear. Those preaching of god will tell you whatever you want to hear.
