For the Real Cowboy Fans and Non Cowboy Fans Too: The Dallas Cowboys are the most successful team of the modern era (since 1960). They have won 5 Super Bowls and 8 Conference Championships. The Cowboys have more victories (40) on Monday Night Football than any other NFL team. They hold NFL records for the most consecutive winning seasons (20, from 1966 to 1985) and most seasons with at least 10 wins (25). The team has earned the most postseason appearances (29, which includes another league record of 56 postseason games, winning 32 of them), the most appearances in the NFC Championship Game (14), and the most Super Bowl appearances (8), two more than any other NFL team. The Cowboys also played in 2 NFL championship games before the NFL's 1970 merger with the American Football League. The Cowboys became the first team in NFL history to win 3 Super Bowls in just 4 years (a feat that has been matched only once since, by the New England Patriots). They are also tied with the San Francisco 49ers and the Pittsburgh
Steelers for having the most Super Bowl wins (5). The Cowboys' success and popularity has earned them the nickname "America's Team".

This type of stuff will make me miss Texas Stadium a lot more. Their is so much history there. I grew up watching my role-models, who I wanted to be like growing up, Aikman,Emmitt,and Irvin. A Dallas Cowboy.

From the 1978 season. then the commentator of their first game next year introduced Dallas as America's Team, and now fans of others have been jealous and envious of that title ever since. I'm not taking anything away from the Packers who probably have a bigger fan base than ours (and claim to be the real America's Team), but for a team that came in the 60's, we sure showed out and have been blessed with extremely talented players and coaches.

When I became a 'boys fan I was 5 years old and yes it was because of the whole Americas team thing. I'm not from TX and wasn't born until the late '70s sorry I didn't root for them prior to that. Sorry your team sucks and you're angry the Cowboys may not be your team but they are America's Team. Bottom line America apple pie and the Dallas Cowboys

When I was 6 yrs. old my dad was watching the
1972 NFC Championship Game between the Cowboys
and Redskins. I did'nt know any of the teams
back then,but I wanted the Cowboys to win.
They lost 26-3 to the hated skins.
I asked my pop who the Redskins would play next & he said the Dolphins. I'd never heard
of the Dolphins,but I wanted the Redskins to
pay,which they did in the Super Bowl.
Miami was my team from then on.

Hmmm. Let me see the SanFrancisco 49ers won five Superbowls too...and it took them only five trips and roughly the same roster. 5 for 5= 100% doesn't it? The Cowgirls won 5 out of 8 . That's what 62.5%. I'll give those punks their due, but The 9ers are 100%, The Steelers are at 83.33% so STATISTICALLY you guys are at #3.

Wrong. Steve Sabol of NFL films gave them the name because he needed a way to describe them that viewers would find catchy and memorable. Tex Shram took it and ran with it even though Landry thought it was too boastful.

You're comparing apples to WATERMELLONS pal. Going to a Superbowl and LOSING makes you the winning loser. Just ask the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills. The winner of the Superbowl gets a ring and the Vince Lombardi Trophy...what does the loser get? Forgotten. Most non Cowboy fans remember the 5 Superbowls but most can't remember who they lost 3 Superbowls to. I stand by my ORIGINAL point 9ers are 5 for 5. 100% is still better than 62.5. Deal with it.

As much as I HATE ever motherfucker who has EVER worn those girly silver metallic pants or that Pride parade star on his head (OR EVER WILL), I have to give them their due. Tony Dorsette was one hell of an athlete as were Roger Staubach and Bob Lilly. Aikmen is a class act and I respect Landry even though he DID STEAL THE FLEX DEFENSE FROM LOMBARDI and claimed it as his own. But I've heard Emmit Smith is an arrogant ass when you meet him and I can watch Irvin gettin his neck broken all day!
