1975 Notre Dame vs. Georgia Tech - The Rudy Play

Notre Dame scores a late touchdown vs. Georgia Tech, enabling senior walk-on Dan Ruettiger to play in ND's final home game of 1975. Though uncredited by radio announcer Don Criqui, Ruettiger sacks the quarterback on the final play of the game, achieving a lifelong dream of playing football for Notre Dame. Special thanks to KH for marrying the game film to the original radio broadcast.

You can't blame the real Rudy for any inaccuracies. The movie Director took Rudy's book and ran with it. Dan Devine was actually the one who SUGGESTED that Rudy dress for one game. I heard an interview where Devine laughed about being the heavy.

Yea sounds like at 1:03-1:04 right after Criqui says "... 20 yard line" you can hear a Rudy chant. And then right as he wraps the QBs legs as the QB gets rid of it sounds like someone in the stands near the press booth says "yea Rudy" at 1:08.

Wow, so that was his big sack?? At MOST he had about 1/3 sack and maybe he didn't even have that. I've heard that the movie was about 90% fiction and this supports that. Golic said the whole "turning in the uniform thing" was phony too.
