Flatpicking Guitar Magazine filmed a live concert performance featuring Bryan Sutton, Tim Stafford, and Jim Hurst. During the show, these three master flatpickers performed as a trio, in various duo settings, and each did a few tunes solo. | I took a few guitar lessons from Tim Stafford in the late 70's when I was a little kid in Johnson City, TN. He was awesome even back then. In the mid 80's I switched to a thumbpick and a Chet Atkins style, but I still remember a lot of the licks Tim showed me, just do them now with a thumbpick. Tim rules flatpicking!! |

| Tim told me he does that because he started out on banjo and his teacher had him put a section of garden hose on his ring finger and little finger to keep them confined and planted. By the time he took up guitar, it was just old habit. |
