Simon looks really young but he had been around in the business about a good 10 yrs. at this point. Probably started out really young. And no Bonham isn't better...Bonham had that signature style and sound but not even close technically to Phillips. I saw him with Jeff Beck in 1981 and didn't even know who he was and I ended up watching him more than Beck in the show....he did a solo that completely smoked!

LZ is my favorote band by a wide margin...but I know that JB was far from being the best in the world. He and his unique approach/sound simply fit tremendously well with JP, JPJ and RP.
Phillips is a greater tallent as a drummer. Shame his fit isn't as perfect as JB's was with the Zep.

This is some stylish shit! But PEOPLE who have been arguing about "best" drummers, you gotta realize that someone can sit down at a kit, do some basic stuff and make it sound amazing. some can go and play 3000 notes a second, with their hands tied behind their backs, somehow incorporating 10 polyrhythms in each limb(you get the message) and sound shit. Its all about style ain't it. love to all

simon, is in the freak class. i could watch him all day! bonham was a great drummer too! who's drum lines to the band's songs are amazing! sure, ringo is tech boring, but what he did on those songs are great and i can't imagine anyone else giving those beatle songs any better or greater feel.

Simon is great. As long as there are people there are gonna be those who say this guy is the best or that guy is the best. Bruford can play what ever he thinks of, so can Peart, so can Abts, so can Bozzio, so could Buddy and Bonham, so can Phillips and so can all the rest. If the drummer sounds like he "should" be playin' the music that he is playin' then he's the best drummer in the world. When they ask me who's the best I tell 'em that "I" am. (I'm not but then there aint no such thing).

Simon is one of the greatest.. And he was the best replacement for Jeff Porcaro. But there are so many fantastic drummers around!
