Except they chose to base theirs' of RATM's version, which is distinctively different from Springsteen's. So obviously he wasn't showing respect for Springsteen by covering RATM.

It would be weird seeing the boss do a RaTm impression don't you think?...One sceams his point the other sings it. I wouldn't say Rage have injected anything better into their version aside from the typical Rage treatment to any cover...they make it their own and believe me I am a fan of Rage, but come on, the 'BOSS' wrote this and the boss dominates it. a lil respect.

Excellent song. The beauty of the tune and the lyrics give this song a power that all RATM's screaming just cannot match. The first notes on the harmonica send a shiver down the spine, and that sets the tone for the rest of the song. Fantastic.

Ha! RATM are sellout champaigne commies. Bruce Springsteen has talent. I love the excuse RATM give for signing to a major record contract, that because capitalism is so pervasive, the only way they can get their message across is through that form of media. No doubt Bruce's version is better. But when he played with Tom Morello in Anaheim it was great. I had the opportunity to be in pit at the concert. Tom's guitar solo was truly amazing.
