Yes, Galveston did survive Katrina but will always be in danger of another Big One like the one they had in 1900. Thanks for your interest !!!

Actually, Rita, not Katrina, was the big one we survived recently (the evacuation was a bit rough though). Nevertheless, past "Big Ones" like 1900 were enough to teach us to pack up and haul butt when they do come. Many of the homes that survived 1900 also survived Rita. And just look at our history from the 1900 storm -- what didn't stand got rebuilt in one way or another. Here's to New Orleans doing the same!
