please explain why this sucks. Or are you just a narrow-minded person who only understands emotions in a very shallow way. Emotions and their interaction with other things are very complicated, and masterful musicians like Pat Metheny explore these complications in their music.

Pat's best composition, it has an almost religious, uplifting and purifying effect on the soul. By the way, all Pat's fans should really get to know his brother Mike's work. He's a fantastic jazz musician (flugelhorn, trumpet, EVI). As an old fan, I highly recommend Mike's albums, in particular: "Day In-Night Out" (1986) & "Close Enough For Love" (2001) where Pat is really good. Terry Teachout talks about the Metheny "gene pool" and refers to Pat's guitar as "the liquid delicacy".

This is actually an electric sitar, an instrument that was made popular in the 60's by the Beatles discovery of Indian music. Listen to "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" by Stevie Wonder for a pop example. Pat makes use of the timbre of the instrument to create a wistful composition. He is not afraid to experiment with different instruments, and he is the master!!!
