Oh, I would recommend the 590A1. I have both the 870 and 590a1- it is leaps and bounds better. A little harder to get ahold of and slightly more expensive, but worth every penny. Im sure youve checked it out and know why. Plus, just for asthetics, it looks way cooler.

For Home defense purposes, there's no point in getting the A1.
It has a thicker barrel and a metal trigger housing assembly.
I really doubt any private citizen is doing anything that'll crack the durable synthetic that it's made of.

Actually the good thing about the plastic trigger guard is that if you do manage to break it in a way to block the trigger, you can always bend and break it back out of the way and still have a working shotgun. I heard about a guy who had an 870 and he tripped and fell over a rock while out hunting, bending his trigger guard over the trigger and ruining his hunting trip.

Mossberg 590 holds 8 + 1 in the chamber wth 2 3/4" shells, and 7 + 1 in the chamber with 3" shells.
I'm buying a Mossberg 590SP Parkerized with speedfeed stock after seeing this video. Will get the SpecOps stock soon after. Also I want a new model m9 bayonet. Because I support the right of americans to bayonet in self defense.

I believe any Bayonet that fits an AR-15 fits the 590.
I've been looking at M7-M9.
Type in Mossberg 590 in youtube. One of the top videos is a guy with a M9 Ontario bayonet on his 590 stabbing a cabbage and blowing it away.

The Mossberg 590A1 has a stronger trigger guard than the Remington 870. To the best of my knowledge The 590A1 is the only one that passed the military spec tests. It wont break unless you do something incredibly dumb.

You're right. But Remington didn't enter that test. They knew if they did, they'd probably lose, and then police and security agencies would all start to transition to the Mossbergs.

Thats correct. The Remington 870 is still a great gun but I don't think it would have beaten the M590A1 in the Mil-Spec Test.

The original stock seems quite adequate to me. I used to wear a recoil pad but that was primarily for the full power slugs. Since I discovered reduced recoil slugs, I have not had much use for the recoil pad. I shoot between 130-180 rounds per match and even with the original stock I have no soreness.

Nice to see someone with any knowledge about using a shotgun! Not just the 590... I've just watched about 10 shotgun videos where the user is pretty much clueless on how to use a firearm.

All mossbergs pass the mil-spec standards. The M590A1 and M500A1 just have aluminum trigger guards and safeties. Its true that it would be really hard to break the plastic trigger guard. A lot of Marines, Navy and Army soldiers are using the regular 500's and 590's as well as the A1's.

Looks like a fully adjustable 2 point. It's probably a standard Government Issue 2 point sling. Fully adjustable and simple to use. Allows seveal carry and draw positions. I think it comes with the 590. If not Black Hawk sells it.
3 point slings are for people that don't know how to use a 2 point sling. It basically emulates a 2 point sling routed through 3 points of attatchment. A loop attatched to 3 points has more support than a loop attatched to a single point.
