The point isn't to say the earth is small. It's not something to disagree with anyway, our planet, in the scale of galaxies, IS tiny. Our planet, in the scale of atoms, IS enormous. The relation of atoms to the universe isn't an intellectually deep argument. Small things are small, big things are big - brilliant discussion. The point is more to show we have more in common than different. It gives us scale to show us what's important by pointing out what isn't.
