Bob, I've agreed on some of your other videos but if this city's police problem is out of control. Now of course the reason they pay them shit isn't because of the public opinion but it does have something to do with it. The surge of cops they hired after 9/11 are bigger scumbags than the ones that were hired over the past 50 or 60 years. Most (not all) are failures who become cops at 25-30 years old as a last resort, this mixed with the bullshit laws they are starting to enforce...

means these cops who were the people collecting welfare and smoking weed on the corner (again, not all but a huge amount) now feel they are worth something and pick on inner city citizens. Just come to the bronx, harlem, the ghettos of queens and brooklyn to what I'm talking about. The new NYPD is a group of thugs and otherwise security guards and the city knows this, this is why they are paid as security guards.

Currently there making over 35,000 (Rookies, not including overtime or anything else) I believe that the highest Statrting salary among the 3 big city jobs. Its about time the PBA fought for a decant contract, however i believe that nypd should be paid a lot more considering the arduous work they do everyday

actually studies have been shown that higher degrees of education for a career in law enforcement don't have much practical value. less than 10% of a patrol officers career is spend in law enforcement related matters. raising the salary make the applicant pool greater,and makes it easier to distinguish the poor candidates from the good.hero complex? maybe. but that same branch of psychology theories that what one critiques , one sub-contentiously desires. maybe its you with the hero complex.

And you're pointing the exact problem. A cop enforces the law. They need to know what the laws are, and at the moment interpret if that law has been broken. With little education, they're no more than a bunch of uniformed bouncers. I rather have a raised salary along with raised standards. By your suggestion, its acceptable to have stupid/less educated people enforcing laws and arresting people which can leave great financial/judicial consequences. Hero Complex? I rather be a bad guy.

Only because the NYPD brought the crime level down so much and now they are actually being punished for it. If they let the crime rate go back up then the city will pay more, how this works is just crazy.

You drive me crazy in some videos but with this one I have to agree. It is bullshit that the NYPD (which I plan to join in the near future) makes little to NOTHING compared to Suffolk County when they do 1o times more work and have to deal with assholes and shit heads all day.
It just shows you how far down hill our country has gone, we would rather pay Brittany spears 3mil to lip sing on stage then to give our cops some kind of pay for protecting us.

As a soon to be police recruit here in NYC I thought it would be good to point out that salaries have been increased to $35,881 for new recruits. This salary DOES NOT reflect overtime and other bonuses added to the base. It also does not reflect the 27 paid vacation days or UNLIMITED sick leave you ar entitled to.
