the hitler example is aimed at mccain: it simply illustrates that "courage in battle" as well as patriotism are pseudo-virtues and completely detached from morality, honesty and decency (let alone political competence), hitler and many nazis were indeed patriots and "warheroes"

Anyone who has actually studied Hitler knows that he was indeed a war hero. It was how he got the corporals and lower on his side during his political campaign.. since he was a corporal who received.. TWO Iron crosses. Thats uber ballsy in Germany. Hell Hitler had a far MORE heroic record by our own standards then McCain and look how that turned out :P. People should stop to say sorry whenever they talk about McCains POW past in a critical way. There is nothing to feel sorry about, when pointing out that being shot down, imprisoned and tortured may be a terrible sacrifice, but its not an achievement to base a candidacy for President on.
To be a tortured POW makes one a victim of war, not an experienced politician. And it neither makes one more or less of a patriot then the americans who never had to face torture.
