This is my favorite U2 song. To hear this in the superbowl after 9/11 with the names of the deceased scrolling behind the band during the song hits right in the heart. This song has a deep meaning for a great moment. Definately the most memorable Halftime show ever. Great Post. U2!

I still remember people talking about this in the days prior to the Super Bowl. How could they have a foreign group at the 1st Super Bowl after 9/11!!! That was the GREATEST half time show EVER and one time that it was a good thing that the decision makers didn't listen and cave to public opinion...

Perfect balance of cool,comfort,patriotism,anger,sorrow,spirituality,morning,power,optimism,hope,joy,love,andrelief. Any of these emotions overdone would have created a predictable,korny performance.
Few bands could have pulled off this balanced performance under such a white hot spotlight given the raw emotion of the day. Truly, a "giant band-aid" applied to the collective heart of a hurting nation. This performance transcended entertainment and approached the level of mesianic.

this is one of, if not THE best half time show. it's relieving to have a band that's not so high on themselves and are conscious of the people iin the world. it's this show that really made me become a U2 fan. thanks for posting!

Magical. I remember getting teary-eyed while watching this at a Superbowl party with a lot of people that I didn't know, and I didn't care. This video can't unfortunately convey the magnitude of the time/place as to why this song was so special and hit the spot at the time.
