Nobody should feel bad for the sixers. They had tons of chances throughout the late seventies to the mid eighties. And with the exception of 1983, they blew them all.

For the record, Dr. J's Sixers split 2 playoff series with Larry Bird's Celtics (2-2). The Sixers in '85 were too old while Bird and the Celtics were into their peak.

Only the Sixers were able to run the table on the Lakers in 83 , beating them twice in the regular season for a tidy 6-0 summary. As old as Doc was, the Sixers were still a threat with him and the Celtics still had to play them tough.

kenai123, the sixers werent that old, only 3 players were in their 30'3, doc 35, bob jones 34, b mcadoo 34, the rest sixers was in thier early twenties to mid 20's. check yo facts. the sixers got beat by better team thats all.they didnt have that desire, age wise didnt matter. both teams had 5 players pushing 30. on paper sixers were younger.

Also Reuben, Andrew Toney was a shell of himself after around 84 with his foot injury hobbling him. So although he was physically young, his best days were behind him. So the key parts of the Sixer team was old.
