Thank you for your comments and responses!
Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre formally announced his retirement March 6, 2008 in an emotional news conference at Lambeau Field.
One of the most exciting and productive signal callers in pro football annals, Favre completes his 17-year career as the NFL's all-time leader in every significant career passing category - touchdowns (442), completions (5,377), attempts (8,758) and yards (61,555), plus wins (160).
A certain first-ballot Hall of Famer, Favre will be celebrated for his legendary durability even more than his prodigious numbers. His 253 consecutive starts (275 including playoffs) is the NFL record for quarterbacks and the second-longest recorded streak in league history. With 10 quarterbacks making their initial NFL start in 2007, a total of 212 signal callers opened a game since Favre began his starting streak Sept. 27, 1992.
The league's only three-time MVP, Favre led the Packers to 11 playoff appearances, including seven division crowns, four NFC Championship Games, two Super Bowls and a World Championship with a victory in Super Bowl XXXI.
"He has had one of the greatest careers in the history of the National Football League," said General Manager Ted Thompson. "He is able to walk away from the game on his own terms - not many players are able to do that. The Packers owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude. He has given Packers fans 16 years of wonderful memories, a Super Bowl championship among them, that will live on forever.
"Brett's many accomplishments on the field are legendary. He leaves the game holding virtually every career passing record, plus his consecutive starts streak, which may never be duplicated. The uniqueness of Brett Favre - his personality, charisma and love of the game - undoubtedly will leave him as one of the enduring figures in NFL history."

There will never be another #4 in Green Bay.
But then, there will never be another Brett Favre.
I'm a Giants fan, but I loved what Favre did for football.
Not only was he a great QB, but he was great for the game.
The Pack was back during the Favre years.
The Green Bay Packers are a part of history.
They have been around for a long time.
They will move on.
But it won't be the same.
