I've been listening to closing time and heart of saturday night a LOT recently and I absolutely love those albums. I've tried small change and blue valentine but I didn't like them so much. The first two songs you mentioned I've heard already as they're on the albums I just mentioned and they're both incredible. I can't say I like the other two very much, I guess I just like waits' voice on his first two albums, I can live with that. Thanks for the recs though :)

This might be the absolute worst singer I have ever heard in my life. The way he sings is like torture for my ears. The only reason you people like his music, because you don't want to "conform" with everyone else and listen to music that is actually good. It has nothing to do with not wanting to conform to popular trends. Tom Waits actually expresses his own emotions in his songs unlike pop artists of today who have their songs written for them, it's generic garbage in gerenal! Nonsense. Plenty of top 40 singers can't sing, in fact these days I would say it's most of them. Avril Lavigne, Ashley Simpson, I'm afraid to say neither of them can sing. What's good about Tom Waits' music is that it's got soul, which comes in many forms, but can't be faked it would seem. Now could anyone really pretend to think that Ashley Simpson ever sang with soul in her life?
