Amy borrows from everybody black. She sounds like Lauren Hill, Dinah, Etta and Ronnie Spector and even Bassey at times. She has a good ear. She's talented but she ain't special or original.

You may not think Amy is anyone special, that is your opinion, however, the woman writes all her own music and at the age of 24, she writes profound songs that are original.
To make a racist comment that she borrows from everyone black is ignorant.
She comes from a family of jazz musician's and was exposed to the music of some GREAT jazz singers who happen to be black.
She's the 1st female British artist to win 5 Grammy awards so that ain't to shabby for a white girl!

Noel Coward wrote the song when he was madly infatuated with Laurence Olivier. Dinah was a remarkably versatile artist--she could sing ANY and EVERY type of song magnificently. She was justly proud of that ability.

That's your opinion. I have the whole Fitzgerald, Washington and Vaughan collection plus some Billy Holiday, all considered the greatest of Jazz and call me nuts but I believe Amy Winehouse belongs to this elite group. Her performances of Teach me Tonight, No Greater Love and Someone to Watch Over Me (just to name 3) are of a level that few can reach.

It is absolutely sacrilege to invoke Winehouse and Washington in the same breath. Whatever Winehouse's talents may be, she has miles and decades to go before she attains the stature of a Dinah Washington.
