He's using an old metal-body guitar. It really donen't matter who makes them, because they all sound the same. Fender makes one I know, so does Avery. They're usually used for blues, becuase thats all the old blues-masters could afford.

you're thinking of a resonator. Panda Bear is playing a regular wooden hollow body guitar...and resonators are more expensive than wooden guitars...blues musicians play them for their tone and they were originally used because they're louder and guys could get more of an audience

Well that's because they aren't played on the radio much or anything. People just gotta hear it.
Same thing with Zappa.
But yeah, i mean, they are by far one of the most interesting bands around. This isn't even my favorite song of theirs, but it neat.
Their solo work is equally as interesting in my opinion, top notch use of the the studio as well.

i love this song, and the bad are quality, but if you love music like this, start listening to African music and Celtic music, cause it sounds like a mash up of the two.
