Laughable indeed, you just suffer from the incurable BLACMORONIC PLAGUE, nothing more, nothing less, his impossibilities rub his fans wrong, and it's hard to believe what you say is even your own truth.
Simply put, Blackmore just gets off on apposing any idea of another musician, that they are excited about, period.
I've met them both, and you're wrong about Ian.

Ian Gillan's voice is in much better shape here than that Paris show a few months later where he sounded like he had a pretty nasty head cold. The SF show I saw in 1985, Gillan sounded good, more like this clip in fact, and not like Paris...ritchie63.
Anyway, I'd love to see this whole concert get released on DVD! Visual media is in, and simply audio is sadly on the way out.

I saw them in Los Angelse 1983 or 84 when the Perfect Strangers record came out, they were great at the Ingel Wood Forum. They warmed themselves up. My friend and I took a 1/2 hit of brown blotter acid. Wow what a concert. We saw every evil and great part of the concert.

I've noticed some things in the Perfect Strangers album. Some of the songs seem to reflect the themes and partially the tunes of their old songs. This one reminds me of Demon's Eye.

Yeah, I can hear it, too. The riff Ritchie played in it reminds me of something DP did during the Coverdale era, too.
This was my favorite song on the entire Perfect Strangers album. Ritchie was playing like he meant it and I love that beat that Paice laid down, it had a funk to it and made the song jazzy and danceable! I can understand why Charm91 got addicted to it. I'll bet I've played this one more than any other Purple song.

Like it or not, Gillan and Lord are what made Deep Purple sound like Deep Purple. Without those two, any other lineup pales in comparison.

When this album was released in 1984 after rumors of a reunion swirled for quite some time it was like pure heaven for a DP fan. Not only were they back, they were as kick ass as ever. Belting out some of the best rock of an era dominated by crappy mtv acts and hair metal bands. The lights were on and DP came home!
