Glenn Frazier is an inspiration. If you are going through a rough time in your life, just look at what this man has overcome, and you know you too can survive and thrive. The best example of "never give up" that I have ever seen. Glenn Frazier, thank you.

Read the book "Death march" by Donald Knox. It tells of many more horrors. But, do not hate all the Japanese soldiers. The ones who took the Americans prisoner were combat troops who treated them- for the most part- with respect. It was when the Yank POW's were turned over the to the garrison troops - the ones who had never been in combat - then the atrocities started.

My mothers brother ... ( 3 months ago by gvrtwpkwy)
My mothers brother Emil Koelbel died in Camp O'Donnell, starved to death. My grandmother had a dream before they got the telegram announcing his death. She dreamt he was reaching for her through a screen of muddy water. When I read Knox book Death March he described the US graveyard. The bodies didn't stay buried, they rose thru the mud when it rained. Their skeletal hands reached out of the mud. Wierd.

Historical Facts-23% of P.O.W.s died in captivity in Japanese camps-only 4% in German camps...toward the end of the war some Japanese camps ordered to burn groups of P.O.W.s alive instead of retreating with them. See the movie "The Raid"- tells of the Jan. 30,'45 rescue of P.O.W.s good factual story telling...

have you any idea of how many p.o.w.'s died being shipped to other places in what became termed as hell ships? the holds were crammed full of surviving men and then transferred to labour camps ahead of advancing troops. many of these ships were blown out of the water by american planes and battleships shooting at anything that floated. the hatches on the hell ships were never opened for escape and all went down with the ship. fact. brits, anzacs, dutch, yanks, the whole lot.
