"the host guy calls Parker Boy" No, he addresses Diz and Bird as "you boys," which was slang similar to "you guys."

Ehh. Well. It is true that the host calls Diz and Bird 'you boys' but to equate that with 'you guys' ignores the racial prejudice that Diz and Bird existed in. It's not just 'slang' but it was derogatory and frequently used to reference Africans in American and African Americans. Father's use it to distance their sons just like white members of society use it to deride blacks.
"but to equate that ... ( 4 months ago by JosephNScott)
"but to equate that with 'you guys'" I didn't, I said it was similar, because in this case it was. Or maybe that host showed up to call a "black" man the best alto man in the country because he liked deriding "blacks" and despised the alto sax. Seriously, "black" host Ernie Whitman called "white" boogie pianist Harry Gibson "boy" on "Jubilee" -- it could be affectionate, or just mean guy, or be derogatory, depending on context.

They could both communicate musically so well...who would have guessed there was a real life gulf between them: each one had too much pride to play much with the other. Thank God they did, and thank God someone recorded it. This would have been too amazing to have lost considering Charlie Parkers shortened life (damn you heroine).

And, if you look at the other Dizzy stuff, you will notice that the kid JosephNScott mimics other peoples comments and spits out stuff to make us sound like we are stupid! That's not nice, mr. JosephNScott!

The fact is that, they did play together in a band that included Charles Mingus for a few years, and they were considered a duo. Some of their best work wasn't recorded, because of the musician union strike in 1942.
The bands were always in awe of the two of them while they were playing, because they would go in a whole other direction!
