Van halen is selling out arenas and being payed a million $ a show thats what he is doing now you cant say the same about paul. I like them both tho and guitarists in general arent "better" than eachother theyre all different. Tho eddie is a much better song writer i like mr big but only about 5 of there songs. I probly like about 50 or so van halen songs, basically everything with roth was golden and paul will tell u himself he wouldnt be playing if there was no van halen

i hate the way everyone disses Eddie, shred has evolved, yes Michael Romeo, Petrucci, Vai etc are faster, know more theory and are technically better overall, BUT EDDIE STARTED the damn thing, so stop dissing EVH, shred has evolved just like any other genre, just look at the early blues players and compare them to a more modern one like Joe Bonamassa for instance, it's faster, more technique involed(well just better legato i guess).

technically jazz invented shredding, with the 20 min long jazz odysseus. van halen just took it into the rock scene. and the reason why i diss eddie is cuz i don't like his shredding as much as others.
