The whole reason Bush decided to go to Iraq is because there was a possibility that Saddam had WMD's. He left fake blueprints in places he knew we would find them to try and intimidate us. If we had been intimidated by it, we would've just tried negotiating with Saddam he would've had the time he needed to develop WMD's. Instead, Bush decided to go in there and make sure he didn't instead of assuming anything. Yes he was wrong but I'm glad he went there to make sure there wasn't a threat anyway.

I hate to break it to you buddy, but we supported Saddam through his worst atrocities all through the '80's, and we even helped him get into power in the '70's. We also bombed and sanctioned Iraq throughout the '90's, which caused over 500,000 children under 5 to die of starvation, malnutrition, and disease. We killed more Iraqis than he did.
He was evil, but our actions were consistently deplorable as well.

How can you call him wrong and reconcile that with the fact that, uhh, the U.S. has been doing just what he said for over a hundred years?
We overthrew Iran's democracy and installed a dictator in 1953, we overthrew Guatemala's democracy a year later, we supported Saddam, we helped Pinochet into power and supported him, we killed tens of thousands in Nicaragua, we supported Indonesia's East Timor genocide, we helped overthrow the leaders of Argentina, Pakistan, Haiti, Bolivia..

The enemy of my enemy is my friend is a very old idiom. I however do not buy the MSM version. Osama after helping Afghanistan get rid of Russian invaders, went to the royals of Saudi Arabia and demanded that they declare war on Saddam's Iraq. Calling him a infidel! We were duped- get over it. Yes it was a mistake I know that, I'm just glad there's someone in the white house who would have the balls to do something about people that had the potential to take American lives. And yes people are going to die to defend something they believe in, just like the soldiers and Iraqis did. The soldiers wouldn't have signed up to be in the armed forces if they hadn't been prepared to make that sacrifice.

If a foreign military came into your hometown and started dropping bombs, occupying your entire country, inciting widespread violence, causing large amounts of civilian deaths, and establishing a government essentially of their choosing, would you take up arms against them?
Well then, you would be a TERRORIST. You would be one of the people who it is ok to kill, by your logic.
And actually, FAR more than half of the casualties in this "war" have been civilians.

I can't blame them for fighting for what they believe in, but I think what they believe in is wrong. They want a dictator back in power like Saddam that has all the power. I know you're gonna say that he was a good leader, but looking back at medieval times we know that dictatorship doesn't work. Most of the people living in Iraq are glad we're there, they don't see us as a country there to oppress and rule over them. They're happy to have more freedom than what thye had.

MOST of the people in Iraq are NOT glad we are there, as you say. Please get your facts straight. MOST of them oppose our presence and have since the beginning. Saddam was a terrible leader, and nearly all Iraqis though he was, but we have caused FAR more instability, ruin and carnage in their country than Saddam ever did.
Iraqis are not stupid. They hated Saddam, but their country is in worse shape now than it was under him

In the 1980s when Russia Attacked Afghanistan & USA supporting the Afghanis cause needed some brave guy employed Osama Bin Laden as their General in Afghanistan who bravely leading the Afghan troops made Russia ceasefire & return to its land which had already been broken in parts & Russias existence as a super power was no more acknowledged on the globe. The people fighting our troops in Iraq are people who want us out of there because we are bringing democracy, they want to have the power in the country. I do think they have a right to fight for what they believe in, just as the first Americans did.
