I know it's all mathematical, but isn't it also a maybe that it was influenced by "subliminal messaging"? There was a small, but real quick shot of the smiley face, by itself, in the center of the screen during the video, which happens around :17 I think. Anybody know what I mean?

Subliminal messages don't actually work. They can persuade you very very slightly if you are aleady thinking about whatever the message is, however; i dont think that even applies here. So, it is very unlikely that the smilie at 1:06 on the original video actually did anything.

richard wiseman is a psychologist, i recently attended a lecture of his where he disproved many common "magic" tricks. He is not pretending to be a magician. Hes just providing the illusion of choice in strictly defined parameters.
