The concert was on July 12 1986 and was part of Queen's Magic Tour ,that would be their last tour together.

John nearly came back for a recording of "We Are The Champions" (with Roger and Brian, and apparently Robbie Williams was going to sing). John refused. He said "I would only record a cover of 'Champions' if the singer was someone who could do it justice. It's one of the greatest songs ever written and, well, this Robbie Williams guy, I mean he's no Freddie Mercury". So John was out and the recording never happened. John has lied low ever since. He basically retired from music when Freddie died.

freddyforever75. I am trying to think what the reunion of the three of them, and Robbie Williams as singer, was going to be for. I think it may have been for charity - hoping the record would get to No.1 to raise lots of cash for whichever charity. I specifically remember John saying to a journalist that he had seriously considered it but refused when he heard who the singer was going to be. John is right in what he said, it is one of the greatest songs ever written.

I was at this gig. July 1986. There were 72,000 people in the audience. They played on the Friday and the Saturday, and this clip is from the Saturday. They were supported by INXS and Status Quo. On this same tour they played at Knebworth Park in Hertfordshire (crowd: 125,000). It was one of the best gigs I've ever seen, Freddie was such a great showman.
