| seisan is a sai kata, not empty hand combat. It's very close to open hand sanchin, also for sai. The techniques shown have been forced upon the kata. |

| nice demonstration of seisan bunkai. most if not all weapon katas are from open hand katas. weapons are an extension of the body. the okinawan version of seisan is derived from the chinese version. the okinawan version is about 400 yrs old and I want to say is from shorin ryu. it is now the 1st kata taught in isshinryu, originally the 1st was sanchin. this clip has opened my eyes to some wonderful uses. |

| sanchin is used in almost every kung fu style, chances of it being a sai kata are very slim. I am quite well aware of how you came to your conclusion, but they countless variations of this form prove otherwise. Check for SanJan, SaamChien,Samchien. |
