oh no i do feel i must apologise because evidently you are better then the WKF referee's who chose her as the best and obviously you must be better at kata then the world kata champion, Atsuko Wakai and hence everybody else on this small rock we call earth.
tell me, oh wise one, what a good kata is? Or better yet, show me...

Your response is unreasonable and illogical. Can the referee do a better kata than the contestants? No I doubt it, yet there they are judging. I cannot do a better kata than her but that doesn't mean I haven't seen better kata. Just because I think it isn't perfect doesn't mean I'm implying that I can do a better kata either. If you want to see a substantially better kata, go look at 10th Dan masters from Goju-ryu and Uechi-ryu. Strange you think the WKF champion has to be the best there is.....

You misunderstand, when i say you believe you're better then the ref's i mean that you beleive she isnt the best however they chose her as world #1, so you think your opinion is more correct.
No i do agree, no kata is ever perfect, however, you have no grounds to say that Atsuko Wakai's kata is 'dead', especially after i veiwed your videos of yourself.
Kata is incredibly difficult to perform, you should never critisise anyone especially when they are significatcntly better then yourself.

:) You are welcomed to criticise my kata, its not very good as you said. Wakai's kata here has many long pauses in it and when there's a long pause, its called "dead form" (死体）in Japanese. Of course these long pauses are peculiar to WKF tournaments where the judges expect people to stop after every move. But that's not how the katas were meant to be done. Hence I said its quite "dead" as compared to "fluid". I'm sure Wakai does a much better, more "fluid" kata when not in a tournament.

Look, in case another fella comes along and starts this again: please realise that Okinawan naha-te requires the kata to be continuous without these long pauses. WKF is a tournament, the judges need the contestants to stop so that they can "see". Look at Higaonna, Teruo Chinen, Toyahma (Uechi-ryu) and other Masters of Naha-te & see how they don't really ever pause-they slow down to almost a stop then move on again. The only time there's a small pause is when they apply "kime" or power.
