"March 29th 1980. The Oilers were facing the Leafs. The league was beginning to be acquainted with the exploits of a young rookie by the name of Wayne Gretzky. If Alex was playing back then, he would have had to contend with all the roughness of Scott Stevens, Domi, Probert, two line passing, holding, grabbing, etc. True, hockey today is faster, but if you watch games from the late 90s the pace is close, just a lot tougher to move around back then.
My Dad was in the basement working, and I was watching upstairs. I kept coming downstairs saying, "Dad, they scored again".
Some things never change in Leaf world.
Thanks for posting this.
he was absolutely SICK- dont care what any haters have to say. just listen to the crowd everytime he got the puck. behind the back passes, between the legs trickery...not many players pulled this stuff off in the 80s let alone today. (crosby comes to mind)
Goal 3 toronto players touching the puck. Goal 5 own goal
