Webster had nothing to do with Diffrent Strokes. There were similar themes between the two but I wouldn't call it a 'rip off'.

I forgot that Cathryn Damon was in this. I loved her in "Soap." Hated "Webster," though.

Type in the Search box "1983 TV Shows" and one of those 1983 TV shows should have Webster listed. It has the full opening credits from Season 1, when the family was living in the apartment.

Webster was replaced in 1987 by Full House in the 1987-88 TV season on ABC.
What's even more ironic was that Webster got replaced twice by Full House 1st time was on ABC, 2nd time was on WGN reruns.

Webster wasn't a 'midget'. Neither was Gary Coleman (who was short apparently because of kidney problems). I don't know why the actor who played Webster was small. However as I've said before there are similarities between the two shows but I wouldn't say that one was a 'rip-off' of the other.

midgets is not a scientific term. if they are abnormally small, and they were, they can be called midgets. and if you don't like the term rip off, call it "clever marketing play on the midget in a white family theme' instead.
Erm ok ... I shall ... ( 4 weeks ago by Ecossaise)
Erm ok ... I shall explain myself then. The term 'midget' is commonly used by some to describe people who have dwarfism. Neither Webster nor Gary Coleman was a dwarf. Your opinion differs from mine on the subject of whether or not this was 'ripped off'. However that being said I am not going to accept your rationalized descriptive phrase 'clever marketing ploy ... etc.'. Believe what you want to believe dearest - but not everyone will agree with you.

Webster had nothing on Different Strokes. I loved Webster, but it was a cheap imitation, too contemporary and lacked the authenticity of Different Strokes.

Probably due to the fact that Cathryn's health was failing around this time, as she passed away in 1987. Kind of funny that both Cathryn & Eugene played husband and wife on "Webster", when on "Soap", she was Mary Campbell, and he was E. Ronald Malu, the attorney that represented Jessica Tate in her murder trial.

Yes, I did. Both Cathryn and Eugene Roche are no longer with us.
