Adagio is as beautiful done as a choral as done by orchestra as done by solo musicians. It's just a hauntingly beautiful melody that translates well.

A former pastor was unmusical almost to the point of anit-musical. Our organist played this asa Prelude and when he got to the 'Great Pause' the pastor got up and said "Good morning" before the organist could complete the work.

Just to help you find more works by him, his name is Samuel Barber. Adagio refers to the tempo of the music. "Adagio, in musical notation, a tempo marking indicating that the music is to be played slowly" - Wikipedia.
Hope that helps you find more of his works :)

I disagree. It outlined the whole atmosphere of the game. This piece has a sad feel to it and the Kushans story is full of sadness. But everyone releates this piece to an event they heard it from, but whenever i hear this, the thought of a camera panning across a battlefeild always pops into my head. All in all, Homeworld did't ruin the song because it was because of homeworld you couldve known this. wouldnt you agree?

WHY ARE STRINGS AND CHOIR DOING THIS? it's for one or the other. i have never seen both doing it. it doesn't work. did barber sanction this? bad decision.

Congratulations, now you've seen it! Robert Shaw's edition actually allows for an organ to underscore the voices, organdude- so why not strings? It fills out the sound and is *gasp* quite nice! Barber just might have approved.
It is the spirit of the music and text and a commitment to excellence that makes it work, not a rigid compliance to a particular instrumentational choice. Plus, music performance should not flatter the composer, but rather bring truth and life.

Fondly remember being pulled out of the classroom by KoK and escorted to Church to sing alto to the beautifull voice of Marylou for funeral Mass. She and I gaged our impact by the family reaction down below. Whether Journey or Mozart, music can uplift the soul.

this song...this was one of our most painful experiences... everytime Dr. Cathey told us we were singing this song we were all....ugh....hahaha but it turned out not so bad! yeah we tried to do it with just the voices and that wasn't going very well so we tried to practice it with the strings and after practicing it a few times we decided to keep it with the strings as well.
