Declawing your cat is cruel, what if he/she got out of your house and they had to fend for themself, the would have no way to hunt for food and they wouldn't be able to climb things for protection. If you can't deal with sharp claws, don't get a cat.

First of all the explanation doesn't say why it was delcawed, second of all there is never a good reason to get your cat declawed and third of all, you never know when people are going to be coming into the house that don't know about the cat (i.e. someone working on the house, cable guy, anybody who has never been in there before)

Third pugcrazylover is right. and sorry. your example would be an irresponsible act. A cat that is 100% indoor will not dart out. and if you have someone that will leave the door open so they can walk in an out anyone with a brain would lock up the cat so it will not sneak slowly out. cuz that they will try. I have cats all my life, get a cat maybe and a clue about cats

Well thats not going to happen with me. Felines are a passion of mine. And FYI I did skim through all your comments and I find it kind of funny that I only found the story once but about 2,000 posts of you crying about how you have posted it million times. Anyways you haven't replied to what I said before, what about nail caps? That is something that I would never put on my cats but I would say it is a good alternative to completely declawing.

Ok I did answer you on this. I have typed the story several times. Do you really think you where the first person out of 800,000 people. For the cheap seats. if you read the story all the experts said NO CAPS they fall off # one Two this cat was way to strong for that and three its not because he was scratching he was attacking so they all said they would fall off and you would find a dead animal or your daughter could be mauled. If you read you'd I already went to the hospital several time.

Obviously cats are my passion too. since we spent over a 1000 dollars on this cat not even knowing if we could keep him. all because of some idiot who abused him. obviously it is my passion since I am wasting my time even responding to you on this issue. again this was not done light heartedly. it was done with a heavy heart. We contacted everyone, If you read. you would see we contacted everyone and they all said they would put him down. We contacted everyone to find a home for him, we contacted every expert and vet that we could find they all said DECLAW HIM. So please do not say you are smarter then them. Let alone this was also over 11 years ago. So please. He is fine. If you read you will see it is a Cool story actually.

Ok see the thing that is wrong with that is ...you say try it first. But it wasn't like if it did not work ok put back on or declaw no big deal. the issue is if it did not work I have a mauled child or another dead animal. No vet and all experts agreed it was worth a chance. as far as Caps yes Caps are very good and should be done way before declawing. however this was a vicious cat that was abused. He would attach me when I was just trying to feed him even though he was starving

Again all the experts we called everywhere all the teaching schools even talked to people in San diego all the way to new york. We did our home work first on this. He was a 20 lbs solid muscle strong vicious cat that riped apart my steeled toe shoes with his claws when I would walk by him. He was way to strong and they all said because of that he would knock them right off. They are just like caps on a tooth. If knocked hard enough and right they come off. Which is how a dentist gets them off.
