I wasn't sure about it at first, but it has certainly grown on me. The video is also a lot better than the one on TSN that has the old theme. And the new theme has a catchy melody (I have it stuck in my head lol). It was really cool that the CBC got fans across the country to participate in its creation the way they did too. You don't see CTV ever doing stuff like that.

TSN is totally whoring out the old song - every damn broadcast of NHL on TSN it's going. The old song is no longer special so let's forget it and move on. The old song was memorable because you knew when it was on it was Saturday night and it was time to gather to watch the game. When you hear it every night it actually becomes annoying believe me.

It's my underatanding that NBC will also use this same theme music for their NHL games this year; only their version will begin with a 1950's audio clip of longtime Boston Bruins' announcer Fred Cusick (who also called the first-ever NHL game on American network television on CBS back in the 1956-57 season). The visual part of NBC's version of the "Canadian Gold" open will reportdely feature NHL stars skating around and through NBC peacock logos and NHL shield logos.
