its not really about the horses but the fact that the Clydesdale Horse is a symbol more than anything.
Its a symbol of oldtimes and tradition which is what Budweiser tries to promote

In horses were used to haul the beer wagons before cars were popular.
Budweiser just happens to breed Clydesdales, which were often used to haul their wagons, and they still travel the country to appear at state and county fairs.
They're AWESOME MASSIVE animals, and so beautiful! I've seen the at the Erie County Fair for many years.

This was my favorite commercial this Superbowl. I loved it! I thought it wa sthe most adorable thing ever! Budweiser always makes the best commercials and clydesdales are so damn gorgeous! Did you see his coat?! It was so smooth and shiney! AHH! Clydesdales are like my fav. horse so when I see these commercials my heart just melts! XD Loved it!

I got to meet "Hank" from this commercial, and he is very small for a Clydesdale! Sadly in real life he never actually made the hitch team...but he is gorgeous!
