MICHAEL STRAHAN HAS DECIDED TO END HIS CAREER JUST FOUR MONTHS AFTER HELPING THE NEW YORK GIANTS SHOCK UNBEATEN NEW ENGLAND IN THE SUPER BOWL. THE DEFENSIVE END HAS BEEN TOYING WITH THE IDEA OF ENDING HIS PLAYING DAYS FOR SOME TIME. IT LOOKED AS THOUGH HE HAD RETIRED LAST YEAR AFTER MISSING ALL OF TRAINING CAMP. BUT ON THE THRESH HOLD OF ANOTHER SEASON, STRAHAN DECIDED TO PUT ON THE PADS AGAIN. HE HELPED THE GIANTS STAGE A LATE SEASON PUSH AND WAS PART OF A PASS RUSH THAT HOUNDED THE PATRIOTS TOM BRADY THROUGHOUT THE SUPER BOWL UPSET. BRADY IS JUST ONE OF MANY NFL QUARTERBACKS WHO FELT THE STRAHAN PRESSURE.
THE SEVEN TIME PRO BOWL SELECTION WAS THE ACTIVE SACKS LEADER WITH 141 AND A HALF, WHICH RANKS FIFTH BEST IN LEAGUE HISTORY. HIS MOST INFAMOUS MAY HAVE COME IN THE LAST GAME OF THE 2001 SEASON WHEN GREEN BAY QUARTERBACK BRENT FAVRE WENT TO THE GROUND AND STRAHAN COVERED HIM TO BREAK MARK GASTINEAU'S SINGLE SEASON SACK RECORD. This sucks. Well, for the fans at least. Strahan will be missed playing by pretty much everyone, and I can't wait to see him on TV, doing his thing.
As for the Giants team, they will be fine. They still have a fantastic defense, and will only get better. But alas, there will never be another Michael. =(

Strahan is my favorite Defensive End ever (even though im an eagles fan) it sucks he retired except maybe for Donovan Mcnabb who won't have to be sacked by him anymore but, the Giants still have Osi Umenyiora who seems pretty good

Well... On the upside, I will not have to worry about him sacking my teams' quarterback anymore (currently Romo). That still does not deny the fact that I am going to miss the guy. He was a class act and was really the "character" of the Giants for so many seasons. First Favre, now Strahan. I insist we start the season now while we still have a few legends left in the league.

Long-time Cowboy fan here. Respect and hat tip to Mr. Strahan. What an outstanding and exciting career and he gets to retire on top. I always thought he was the face of the Giants and I will miss the Cowboys/Giants rivalry without him. Congratulations, Michael Strahan! You were a bad-ass!

It is kinda like a death...no more 92 on sundays when u turn the tv on to watch the game...and for the team...no locker with strahans name on it. It hurts when you lose a player that defines a franchise and is a familiar face in a league where players are swapped around like trading cards.

This guy will be missed. The Giants will have trouble winning another Super Bow without him. The Intensity he brought to the field every Sunday brought chills down my spine (and I bet gave the same feeling to the opposing QB) We will all miss #92. I hope you enjoy your ring
