It sounds to me that he is saying because of 9/11 it has caused Americans to turn a blind eye to the abuse of innocent children of God for something as pitiful as feelings of vengence. "It's okay, an eye for an eye." No, the only way to obtain peace is to love your fellow man, even if he holds contempt for you. Prevailing love should be patient of evil. Teach, not strike. Love not Hate, and this is the example we as Americans should lead by. If we had such compassion no one would starve.
