Pah! Phooey! Is it Xenophobic to want your own culture to be represented by your own culture? American influence has done untold damage to so many diverse world cultures, and it is fair to attempt to protect against this. Would you think it Xenophobic for Tibetans to attempt to protect their language and customs from the Chinese domination? Of course not. The Daily Mail is a despicable rag, and I have no time for it, but it is not wrong to protect your culture from American domination.

It would be nice to see more British children's TV for children today. There's nothing racist, Xenophobic or Little Englander about that. Of course still import shows but allow for other new material from the UK to come through.
Ultimately it's the BBC and ITV...who will make these decisions.

I saw "Make Way for Noddy" or whatever it's called (CGI update of Enid Blyton) on Spanish Digital TV and all the characters had American accents!!! Even PC Plod!!

the reason there is less money for british kids tv now is cos there so restricted on advertising cos theres less adverts they are allowed to show then theres less for programmes especiallyn on itv even the bbc fell the pinch

BBC doesn't rely on advertising, it's what the TV license pays for. BBC programs traditionally have made fun of their small budget as the TV license doesn't generate near the same revenue as advertising on other channels.
I think the real problem is simply lack of imagination, being lazy, mean and not taking risks; it's a lot cheaper and easier to import, especially when things are already established and successful abroad.
