I used to take walks all the way from the south end of Rosedale just to shop at Slipped Disc and get a slice at Ancona. Slipped Disc is a treasure, when the Rio closed up and they lost those great in-stores I thought SD would eventually fade, but the customers are as loyal as Mike has been to one single genre that defines SD: Metal!

Wow. I have to say that I'm VERY impressed with this film - it's one of the better documentaries I've seen in a long time. It was really well done, good interview and, the most important element, SLIPPED DISC! I was lucky enough to grow up 5 blocks away, so I was there almost daily. I still love that store, I will always love that store, and I will forever miss that store. God Bless Rob S., and God Bless SLIPPED DISC!!

I grew up in valley stream and slipped disc is a legendary landmark. you have these fucking minorities that are destroying the Valley Stream economy because the have no money to spend. business are trouble on rockaway ave.

I would save my lunch money all week long, and then EVERY FRIDAY like clockwork, walk the 30-45 minute trek , or have a parent drive us over to Slipped Disc while we made our purchases and proudly added to our growing Record collections ..
One of my most vivid young memories is when my sister and I cut school on my 13th birthday in order to walk over to Slipped Disc where she bought me Depeche Mode's Construction Time Again and a slice of pizza at Ancona to celebrate my big teenage debut:-)

I remember taking the train from Long Beach every Sat. w/ my good friend Charlie and others friends to buy the best collection of metal and punk on Long Island... Got to see Metallica on their first tour @ the Rio Theater across the street and at the in store appereance @ Slipped Disk in 83.... also met Slayer, Motorhead, Wasp, etc there... Great times.... And walking back to the LIRR and stopping by @ Ancona for a couple of Slices. Slipped Disk will be missed

I used to work at Laurel Pharmacy on the corner. Used to go there every Saturday. Prices were higher than other stores but the selection was incredible. Can't belive it closed. Man Valley Stream has changed since I moved to Florida in 2004.
