I think the "sharpness" at the end added to the feeling of the song. Meaning, he's just screaming out his frustration. No matter what it sounds like, he's just trying to get his point across.

Why does everytime someone say this, there always have to be a clause: "don't forget Eddie Vedder". Cornell is way above Vedder and any other 90's vocalist. Temple of the dog and every other SG album proved that emphatically.
