That`s right,signs,and sign stealing and preventing sign stealing are all parts of the game of baseball.If the Giants did steal signs the Dodgers should`ve changed their signs to prevent the theft especially with long term players at second base looking at every pitch thrown to every hitter.This book seems like waste of everything.

I am fan of neither club, but I heard the Giants were able to steal signs with the use of "spies" in centerfield (it might have been from their centerfield clubhouse). And these "spies" (for lack of a better term) supposedly were using binoculars. I find the story of how they relayed the signals a bit suspect...Anyhow, despite their ability to steal signs, the Gianst lost in six games to the Yankees in the WS. Also, the Giants had to start game one of the WS the very next day after this game.

I can't think of any other team that lost more tough games. '41 WS (game 4 w/ Tommy Henrich reaching first when Mickey Owens misses strike three [crossed up by pitcher Hugh Casey]); losing tiebreaker series to Cards in '46, losing in seven in '47 WS, losing in five in '49 WS; coming so close before losing to Philly in 10 innings on last game of '50 season (would have resulted in another tie-breaker series); and then this; and then losing WS in '52 and in '53 (despite being up 3-2 in the series).
