My Camtasia Screen Recording Settings

When I first started experimenting with
Camtasia Studio for creating instructional videos, no one would help or share their settings. I had to hunt and peck and figure stuff out through trial and error. I am sharing info on the products I use, and where to get them. Also a vid on how I produce vids and specifically my post production procedure for saving vids for upload to YouTube.
I get so many inquiries on this, I thought it's time to just try and record what I do.
The file size of this video is 33.4MB for 13.4 minutes.
TIPS: I don't recommend recording the entire screen or a program in Full Screen mode. I had to do this for this video but normally I only set the area of the Application. The smaller the area you record the sharper the quality will be. Videos recorded using the entire screen end up looking pretty fuzzy and soft (like this one!).

Do not use any Camtasia Studio version 3 or 4, as the sound will screw up due to Adobe's faulty FlashPlayer 9.0.115 release. (Dec 3, 2007), which they have not removed or fixed!(As of March 8, 2008!)

Yes, it is.
But it depends on what settings you use.
I thought hypercam was better because the rectangle thing didnt blink, but you can change that in camtasia so it was better for me.

Use the iPod preset to produce as and then find the file it produced and click once on the name to edit, replace the file extension with .mp4. It's all in the above video, did you watch it until the end?

That's a great question! But I don't know. I know you can have 2 audio tracks in Camtasia, so you might have to overdub the voice on mike part and just see if it will record computer sound internally with a different setting

You need to upgrade to Camtasia 5 or 6, as Adobe never did quite fix this. The new versions of Camtasia have the fix built in.

If you're using any version under 5 then that's the way it is, thanks to Adobe Flash Player which garbles vids with the mp3 codec. Upgrade to Camtasia 5 or 6.
