Errors of Dawkins and Atheism

Uploaded by: NadNareek
Video Description:
PERSONAL QUESTIONS for atheists: What religion were your parents? Were you close or not so close, to each? At what age did you first realize or think there might be no god? What was happening in your life at the time? Or you can send me a longer response through youtube private message. I think it would benefit everyone if atheists were seen as real people with real feelings and sincere views. Thanks

Not too reassuring. Where's my $20.

I spoke with a Buddhist evangelist yesterday. She said Buddha left his wife and family to pursue enlightenment but it would not be right for us to do so. Afterward, I thought I should have asked if he had to be reincarnated for being a dead beat dad.

If he truly had ... ( 1 week ago by x362436)
If he truly had attained enlightenment, I guess he wouldn't be coming back. I know what you mean - that if he was a deadbeat dad he couldn't have attained that perfection. Remember that he was a prince and his wife and children wouldn't have gone hungry or been put out on the street. Thing is, not every Buddhist knows what they are talking about when it comes to their religious, just like there are Christians who can give some pretty embarrassing answers to questions about their faith.
More importantly ... ( 1 week ago by x362436)
More importantly they are accountable to the state as with everyone, religion or no religion. To be on the safe side, we should be more diligent in making sure criminals pay for their crimes on this side.
The old ... ( 1 week ago by detroitboy65)
The old Stalin-Hitler argument? Surely you know that, though an avowed atheist, Stalin was also a paranoid megalomaniac, and Hitler was a Christian. Neither of them commited their crimes against humanity as a result of his religious tendencies. Atheism is not = to anarchism. Atheists tend, overwhelmingly, tend to be non violent, law abiding, highly educated respectable members of society. FYI: Atheists make up only 0.20% of the prison pop., while Catholics do 40%. Sic semper tyrannis FSM!
Yes you are right! ... ( 1 week ago by xRECESSIVE)
Yes you are right! If there is no god there is no value or accountability.
That is an obvious and blatent fact and in no way a testimony to the existence of god.
It seems like the effort put forth in this video is to appeal to peoples intuitive sense of right and wrong.
The sense or need of justice for right and wrong does not mean that god exists.
it is easily explained as an attribute of our evolution and our need for suvival.
Evolution does not ... ( 1 week ago by NadNareek)
Evolution does not prevent free moral choice, and need for survival actually informs self-interest and pleasure as the individual goal, if no afterlife. But at least you agree that humans have no unique value if no god.
70,000,000+ dead ... ( 1 week ago by NadNareek)
70,000,000+ dead and murdered because of Pol Pot, Stalin, Menghistu, Ceauscescu, Kim Jong Il, etc. all informed by atheism that devalues human life. The pattern of atheist governments/policies is undeniable (but you can deny it anyway).
Prison stats have no meaning, because atheism is not an identity for most people, especially the episodic atheist who unconsciously lapses into making god disappear from conscious awareness.

There is no God, or ... ( 1 week ago by seeksake06)
There is no God, or no BLIEF in God; which are entirely two diffrent things.
Disapointing that you brought up Hitler and Stalin agian, very weak argument indeed.
One has to do good for the sake of doing good. "Good" and "bad" are just concepts; to do with societies and traditions. What you condider "good" because of your up bringing might be consider "bad" in other cultures.
Some canibal tribes consume human flesh as part of their religion retual; which to them is a right thing to do.
I'm not sure about ... ( 1 week ago by x362436)
I'm not sure about this line of reasoning. How can we tally up all the deaths caused - directly or indirectly - by religious wars? The number would likely dwarf the 70,000,000+ caused by atheism (your number). The point is, whether someone is religous or not has nothing to do with their ability to commit crimes of this magnitude. Pol Pot could easily have done what he did in the name of some religion.

I didn't say that. By definition a deadbeat is one who chooses not to support their dependants financially.

So is it OK for a wealthy Buddhist to abandon his family, to go off and leave them to pursue his own "enlightenment"?

I left Mao Tse Tung off the list. He murdered more than all the other atheists combined. You cannot ignore the fact of the obvious pattern here: atheism devalues human life = atheism commits mass murder.
"Good and bad are ... ( 1 week ago by NadNareek)
"Good and bad are just concepts; to do with societies and traditions."
Exactly... part of my case against atheism.
It was WRONG for ... ( 1 week ago by NadNareek)
It was WRONG for Buddha to abandon his wife and family, for any reason! If he was truly enlightened, he would have known that and hurried back to them and apologized every day for the rest of his life. My opinion is that Buddha had no conscience and just wanted to have a nice contemplative holiday from responsibility like so many other Buddhists I have known, all in the name of detachment!
