The song is not about religion in the slightest, actually. It's back when her focus on the lyrics was centered more on people who use other people, and the rage and heartache that often follow such. However, the style was not emo, instead it was driven with a deeper understanding. Pointing out, "Yeah it sucks to be used, but I'm not going to get mopey about it. I'm going to own it and use it to my advantage." Some could dub their early work as "revenge-grunge."

you've obviously never heard of similes and metaphors have you? She's comparing how little she cares about this individual by using God as a metaphor for distance. In other words God as the judeo-christian concept of a omnipotent being that one can never be out of touch with no matter how far they go. In other words she wants to be so far away that no matter how far she goes she'll never be far enough away from them.

En général je ne suis pa trop rock mais cette chanson je l'adore vraiment et elle me rappelle les journées entières que je passais a jouer a Grand Turismo. Vraiment du très bon son celle là c'est une des meilleures du jeu. Bj à tous ceux qui ont kiffé le jeu. Excellents souvenirs et même quelques regrets du bon vieux temps. Ciao...

er, I never knew this song was in gran turismo -doesnt really play videogames let alone racing games- BUT IT MUST BE PRETTY PIMP THO RIGHT :D anyways, i love this song, i love the bitterness in shirley's voice, it runs chills up my voice it's so creepy, and deep. This song also doesn't sound like any other garbage songs. None compare to it. Which is why I love this song more. It's destructive, and impulsive, but it has meaning, and is amazing. One of my fav songs by my fav band.
