These firemen etc were REAL HEROES, we owe them so much, not like the pansy's idolised so much today. Can you imagine a premier league footballer doing this? MIND MY HAIR.If we were at war, heaven forbid, elf n safety rules would let us all perish.Thanks for posting.

I am not old enough to have experienced the war, thank heavens, but i have spoken to many people who went through it, and quite frankly it scared me rigid what they had to endure, and with little regard for their own safety.If any one reading this was there, Thank You.

My Grandad was a river boat fireman. He rode 20 miles each day on his bike to join his fire brigade to help London. Thank you Grandad.

My Granddad was only ten when the War ended, he told me what it was like during the air raids and other Granddad was the Army in Italy as a cook. My great-granddad was PoW. It was really bad that all those innocent people perished and so many old buildings were lost. And I agree with fedupworking's comment these firefighters were the REAL heroes.

Innocent people on both sides suffered terribly. The British and Canadians bombed and fire bombed Hamburg with phosphorous killing hundreds of thousands of people.

Fireman did a fantastic job. My great aunt worked in Commercial Road. The sceans she witnessed made her shudder. Her Brother joined Bommber Command to get the Bastards back. Sadley he was killed attacking a tank park behind the Normandy beaches.
