An amazing movie (and nice trailer :) ), on an unknown aspect of this tragic war, in my opinion, the real birth of USA.
Why you americans call it "Civil War" ? In french we says "Secession War", because this war was a war of ideologies and different economic interests, but also the result of many previous tensions between North and south (I have read the very good McPherson's book which partly explains this). All the ingredients of a war between two nations.

this movie, might i say, is probably the best movie ever made. and fabizo, we call this a civil war because it was against the two america's as they would call it back then. the south didn't want to break off from the north, they only wanted their own government, so they could keep their slaves. they never wanted to break off from the north. and either way, that was the past, and we call it what they call it. so basically, deal with you, you wern't there so you don't matter.

propaganda my ass. Just because you don't like what the coloreds did during the civil war doesn't make this propaganda. The only slightly deviant fact about the movie was the fact that most of the 54th US Colored were free men, rather than the slave refugees they tend to depict, is minor. What do you think is so propagandized about this movie? Hell they even show the Yankee corruption multiple times throughout the movie.

God.... There were more whites in the regiment than the movie showed, and you're pissed about that? I think they make it clear in the movie that all of the officers were white. Everyone else was black. In the assault on the beach you see many white officers at the lead of the assault. If you just want to hate everything black people did that's fine, but if you want to show your blatant racism and "the south will rise again" mentality, you're doing just fine with that.
