I was just reading a transcript of an interview done by Tom Petty in 2005 and he says, about this song, that the Move/ELO song Do Ya inspired it. I can definitely hear a similarity in the guitar riff.
It's kind of funny that in a couple of year's time he would be collaborating with Jeff Lynne.
