This live performance and the MSG 911 performance give me chills whenever I listen to and watch them..which is at least once a week. (luckily I recorded the 911 version b4 it was deleted).
IMO, this maybe the greatest rock tune ever written...and performed by one of the coolest guys on the planet. Thanks, Mr. Jones. :)

Not a big Bowie fan, however I think this may be the BEST in concert video I have ever seen. The original stripped down version didn't do it for me. The song re-surfaced for me watching the 911 Concert, it blew me away! Thnx for posting this. (Why was the 911 Concert version deleted)?

I loved this tune the moment I put the needle to the 'album' 30 years ago.
I saw Bowie on a Monday nite in 74 at MSG. He was still doing the space thing that really didnt work for me. I stuck with him because the rock tunes he penned were fabulous.
Watching him and his band perform some 30 years later at the MSG 911 benefit was a special treat for me. Frankly, I prefer the mature, drug free Bowie.

It's interesting to see him getting kind of choked up during this performance. It must have been quite powerful for him to perform this song in Berlin, especially with its references to the Berlin Wall.

@JmaDeLapince[4month ago], you are right. The 9/11 live version performing for the victims of that cruel attack was so emotional, almost supernatural.[to "lovetheold"; you need not to kill, just by the "The Concert for NY City" DVD and enjoy one of the best Bowies performances ever... Cheers!

It's very very typical for Heroes by David Bowie, this song is like Rockin' in the Free World by Niel Young. Which both often experiment and change the lyrics for the current event.
