| i was born the in 70's and grew up on 80's hiphop. so i remember hearing songs with tight beats and lyrics. but in defense of hiphop of today, all of it is not bad. unfortunately radio plays the same crap all day, every hour. so part of the blame has gotta fall on the listeners. because the stations play what people request. personally i get my hiphop fix from my cd collection and the internet. |

| MGH: Honestly, I don't think that radio plays what the ppl request &/or want 2 hear. I have called up & requested certain tunes several times only 2D played off, told they don't have it or they can't play it 4 this, that or another reason (most of the time supposedly related 2 records sales, etc.). These radio stations play what big money record companies pay them 2 play. It has little 2 nothing 2 do w/ what the ppl request. If U hear a tune often enuff, U will begin 2 like it & they know this. |

| Agreed..Its all big business now, and record companies know that heavy radio play will influence sales, so they do in fact pay for air time for certain projects, then in turn, people get hooked on something that they hear daily..That's natural..If you are familiar with Frankie Crocker, he would play a combination of what he liked, what the people requested and what was hot in the clubs.. |
