I'll be 14 in three days and in late December I'll be starting ballet.
I know that there's no sure way to tell how long it will be, but is there an estimate as to how long it will be before I can begin pointe work?
I was hoping to be en pointe by 16..is that too much to hope for?
It is possible that in two years you could be en pointe, it also possible that you might not.
It's an annoying answer, but a truthful one :-)
Once the glue dries, it's incredibly hard, almost like wood. =]

Wholly depends on flexibility or perhaps the level of training one receives.
For those professional ones, say Svetlana Zakharova, they can hold that pose without their hands.
The guy that's holding that pose starting ballet at 17...so yeah he's been through some years of training to get that...still awesome though
